School History 1950-1959
In 1953 many changes happened at the school because enrolments were greater than 300 for the first time. Extra classrooms were constructed, a girls' rest room was built and the dirt bicycle track was replaced with a roadway. On Christmas Day 1953, on of the school's greatest benefactors died, Mr. W. Coulthard, O.B.E.
1955 was the third year that the school had over 300 enrolments and the school gained a Class I classification and a new Headmaster, Mr. H.L. Noblett. There was an accident involving a bus this year but luckily no students were hurt.
In 1958 enrolments rose sharply again and many of these students were coming by bus. The War Memorial Swimming Pool was complete, after some students at the school had been raising funds for the past few years, and the school held its first swimming carnival. The Hon. Sir Thomas Playford, Premier of South Australia came to the school and laid the foundation stone for the Coulthard Memorial Hall. Due to the increased enrolments 2 new classrooms and a library were added to the school.
